Praying for Your Spouse - Day 15: Their Reputation

Your reputation is not to be taken lightly. A good name is one to be chosen over great riches, according to God's word. Pray that your spouse will have a reputation that is untarnished. Pray that they will have the kind of heart that people speak highly of and a name people trust. Ask God to deliver them from anyone who wishes to do them harm. Pray that they will be spared from any schemes of the enemy.

Verses to Reference:

Psalm 64: 2-3

Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers.
They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.

 Psalm 31:17-18

Let me not be put to shame, Lordfor I have cried out to you;
but let the wicked be put to shame and be silent in the realm of the dead.
18 Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

Matthew 5:11-12

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Proverbs 25:8-10

Do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame? If you take your neighbor to court, do not betray another’s confidence, or the one who hears it may shame you  and the charge against you will stand.

Romans 8:33-34

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 14: Their Integrity

Integrity is who you are when no one is looking. It's the moral compass that you live by, regardless of what is going on around you. Pray that God would make your spouse a person of integrity. Ask that God gives them the courage to stand for what they know is right, and not to fall under the pressure of the world. Ask that God gives them a teachable spirit, and the desire to walk in truth. Where they have failed, ask God to give them a heart to admit their mistakes and seek your guidance.

Proverbs 28:6

Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse.

Proverbs 11:3

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Psalm 7:8

Let the Lord judge the peoples. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High.

Psalm 26:1

Vindicate me, Lordfor I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.

Psalm 25:21

May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you.

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 13: Their Trials

Everyone goes through trials. Sometimes prayer helps us avoid them. Not always, but in some cases, it makes all the difference. When trials do come, even if prayer didn't keep it from coming, it will most definitely help carry you through. Only God knows the depths of the burdens we carry. Ask God to give YOU wisdom and understanding to handle the situation the best way your spouse needs. Ask God to show you the best way to support your spouse as they go through this trial. Pray that God gives your spouse strength and patience to wait on the Lord. Ask that God gives them endurance and faith in God's plan. Pray that God will be their refuge until the storm has passed. Pray that they will find their strength in the Lord.

Verses to Reference:

1 Peter 1:6-7
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

 Psalm 55:22

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Psalm 55:16-18

As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noonI cry out in distress, and he hears my voice. He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.

 Psalm 71:20-21

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 12: Their Protection

It's no secret that there are dangers everywhere. Your spouse doesn't have to be a soldier or an emergency rescuer for them to come in harm's way. Ask God to protect your spouse from accidents, diseases, sickness, and evil influences. Pray that God will keep them from violence and the plans of evil. Ask God to be their fortress and shield.

Verses to Reference:

Psalm 91:1-2

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Psalm 27:5

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 18:2-3
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn  of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.

Psalm 17:7-8

Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand
those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 11: Their Health

Your spouse's health isn't something to take for granted, regardless of where they are physically. Ask God that every part of your spouse's body will work the way God created it to. Ask that anything out of balance will be put back in place. Pray that they will have the desire to take care of their body. Thank God for being our healer.

Verses to Reference:

Psalm 103:2-3

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases
Psalm 107: 19-20

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what theLord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.

 Isaiah 58:8

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear, then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
 Jeremiah 33:6

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 10: Their Choices

I bet your spouse has never made a single decision that you have ever disagreed with. (Can you taste the sarcasm dripping off of that sentence?) The choices our spouses make are extremely important, because they involve us and our families. One wrong choice, and it can deeply effect the entire household. This is why it's extremely important to pray for their choices. Ask God to give them wisdom for each choice they make. Ask for discernment, that they will hear His voice. Ask for Godly wisdom, and that they are receptive to advice from Godly council. Bind any unteachable spirits in Jesus name. Pray that they will do what's right, rather than following their own desires.

Verses to Reference:

Proverbs 1:5

let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance

Proverbs 3:7

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 1:28-30

Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.
30 Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke

 Proverbs 21:16

Whoever strays from the path of prudence comes to rest in the company of the dead.

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 9: Their Purpose

Everyone has a purpose. God created us each with our own purpose in this life. Sometimes our purpose is clear, and other times...not so much. Pray that they will clearly hear God's call on their life. Ask God to help them find their identity in HIM. Bind all distractions that may hinder them from pursuing their calling. Ask that God will give them patience to wait for His perfect timing.

Verses to Reference:

1 Corinthians 7:7

I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

1 Corinthians 7:17

Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

2 Thessalonians 1:11

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.

 Ephesians 1:17-19

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength

 Psalm 20:4

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

Praying for Your Spouse - Day 8: Their Fears

I love that Stormie Omartian included fears in her book The Power of a Praying Wife (the book these posts are inspired by). I never thought to pray for my spouse's fears until I read this book. In the Bible it tells us that perfect love casts out fear. We must pray that God will perfect our spouse in God's love, so that tormenting fear finds no place in them. Ask the Lord to keep fear from ruling over your spouse. Pray that your spouse will acknowledge God and His unfailing love, whose presence casts out all fears.

Verses of Reference:

Psalm 34:7

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalm 34:4

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvationwhom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
