Praying for Your Spouse - Day 1: Their Spouse (you)

Welcome to day 1 of praying for your spouse! I know the title of this one is a bit odd. Why do we have to pray for our spouse's spouse (ourselves)? This is such an important step in praying for your spouse. If there is any anger or resentment, that needs to be handed over to the Lord. When we begin to pray for our spouse, we must come to the Lord with a clean and pure heart. We have to set any blame or bitterness aside. As Stormie Omartian says "Something amazing happens to our hearts when we pray for another person. The hardness melts. We become able to get beyond the hurts and forgive."

There is power in prayer! Whether you decided to participate in this because you are having marital issues or not, praying for your spouse can change your entire marriage...but it starts with YOU. Your prayer today is to ask God to do a work inside of you. Ask Him to get rid of any unforgiveness, and allow Him to work in you.

Here are some verses to reflect on -

Mark 11:24-25

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.,

 Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Matthew 7:7-8

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Proverbs 24:3-4

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

 Galations 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
