Ok, I was totally one of those OCD pregos who had to plan her own baby shower. (when I get a vision, look out world!) I was online trying to find a theme (because I'm nuts about themes!) and I found "A Star is Born" Hollywood theme. It was absolutely perfect, because my baby girl's name is Stella and Stella means star. Here's how it turned out...
When you first walked into the foyer of my church, there was a 'scene' set up with a red carpet, director's chair, black background with gold stars and the balloon pillars pictured below. We had 'run way' music playing (Vogue, Glamorous, You better Work, I'm too Sexy, ect.) and paparazzi were there to take our picture on the red carpet.

This banner was displayed in the foyer as well...
We had an advantage since it was held at my church. We utilized the projector screen and made it into the "Hollywood Hills" by projecting a picture of the Hollywood sign. This really made the room come alive and it was absolutely free. We just found a picture on Google and wa-lah, the sanctuary became Hollywood!
We also had various Hollywood decor dangling from the ceiling. (You can see the Film camera at the top center of the photo below. That was one of the many danglies from the ceiling along with gold stars). We placed the gift table on the stage so that I could open my gifts in front of everyone.
Here's the table décor we had on the tables that were set up by the stage...
We copied and cut out several of my ultrasound pictures and put them in a star shaped dish with red metallic filling from the dollar store. (you can't really see the filling in the picture, but it's behind the ultrasound picture) These were on each table for a touch of decoration.
I made a Hollywood Star with Stella's name on it by taking black glitter craft paper and silver glitter foam and I used scrapbooking paper to cut out her name. It turned out beautifully! As you can see, we displayed it on the refreshment table.
Another shot of the refreshment table. (We did all the candy in our color scheme of red, white and black with pops of gold and silver decor) And notice the vintage popcorn machine in the background! It added a little extra something to our theme! The guests munched on freshly made popcorn while we waited for everyone to arrive!
My beautiful cake!!
This was one of the game we did. My friend made a Hollywood diaper cake and the guests had to look at it and try to remember what was on this table. They were quized later.
Our second game that we did wasn't really a game, but rather a contest for 'best dressed'. The guests were encouraged on the invite to dress in their 'red carpet attire' - this could be classy or silly. (I took the silly approach with a red feather boa and crazy huge sunglasses) This is Sheila, our winner! She won a golden trophy and we had her do a 'run way walk' for being the winner.
Posing for the paparazzi!
A little something you could do for guests while they're arriving is have a silly photo corner with props like funny hats, sunglasses, ect. Have a 'paparazzi' member on stand by to take pictures for the guests dressed in wacky outfits. They can have fun while waiting for everyone to arrive and take home a fun suvenier!
There you have it...a totally un-traditional, out of the box baby shower! :)
